Schöck Bauteile GmbH Schöckstrasse 1 76534 Baden-Baden Germany E-mail: presse-de@schoeck.com Press release Schöck participating in Robotic Eyes First-time innovation Chekker advances digital revolution in precasting plant Baden-Baden, January 22 – Schöck Bauteile GmbH is starting 2022 with a further milestone in the development of digitalization in the construction sector. It has developed a digital product for automatic production and quality control in precast concrete component manufacturing together with the software company Robotic Eyes GmbH based in Graz which will be launched in 2022 and marketed under the name “Chekker”. During development, Schöck acquired a 49.95 percent share in Robotic Eyes at the end of 2021. Chekker will be marketed by beamionic gmbh, a new start-up company founded by Robotic Eyes. Schöck acquired the 49.95 percent share in Robotic Eyes through many years of successful collaboration. The Austrian software company with nearly 20 employees is a pioneer in augmented reality- (AR) and artificial intelligence-based (AI) solutions for the construction industry and other sectors. The first product to be developed jointly by Schöck and Robotic Eyes is a digital system solution, which will be launched in 2022 under the name of Chekker, and produced and distributed by beamionic gmbh, a wholly owned subsidiary of Robotic Eyes. Dr. Bernard Reitinger, technical managing director at Robotic Eyes and beamionic gmbh, and Hubert Fritschi, who has previously worked in various management roles at Schöck, will be taking over the management of beamionic gmbh. The quality “Chekker” for precasting plants With Chekker, beamionic is providing precasting plants with a precision measuring instrument which is also revolutionizing the way precast components are made. Instead of having to compare drawings with results, Chekker gives workers step-by-step instructions at a 1:1 scale projected directly on to the work surface. Automatic calibration ensures precision, and the automatic quality check ensures the work steps are carried out precisely and that any deviation is reported. Furthermore, the time data of the prefabrication plants can be recorded in parallel to enable the final costing to be carried out automatically and make analysis of the manufacturing process easier. Chekker is a user-friendly, highly efficient hybrid solution consisting of 2.5D laser/beamer projection and optional AR visualization on a tablet, smartphone or HoloLens. “Digitalization not only means the acquisition of new technology, it also primarily involves the simplification and automation of work processes. With Chekker, we support production processes by increasing efficiency and quality, even though the industry is experiencing an acute shortage of skilled personnel,” commented Mike Bucher, chairman at Schöck AG. “We are delighted that a permanent partnership has evolved through our long-standing collaboration with Robotic Eyes when developing this new product. Together, we aim to advance the use of digitalization in the construction sector using innovative future technologies. Using digitalization and AR solutions represents a quantum leap and opens up exciting new possibilities for quality assurance, especially for Schöck, where measurement software has played an important role for many years”.
