Alternative material technologies with smaller CO2 footprint With the development of Combar®, a reinforcing bar made of glass-fibre and a special resin, Schöck has created an alternative to reinforcing steel and stainless steel, which produce large quantities of CO2 during production. The insulation properties are also impressive: The thermal conductivity of this composite material is 95% lower than that of stainless steel. This environmentally friendly material is now also used in other products, e.g. in Schöck Isokorb® CXT, where the eco-balance in production could be improved by 27% compared with the predecessor model thanks to the glass fibre composite material. Combar® is also used in Isolink® and in Sconnex® Type P. The products are part of the building structure and remain effective throughout the life of the building. They therefore have a lasting effect and no costly, environmentally damaging renovations are necessary. In addition to the life cycle assessment data, it should be noted that all Schöck products are REACH-compliant, i.e. they satisfy the conditions of the EU Chemicals Regulation.
