The durable reinforcing alternative.Schöck Combar®.

Schöck Combar® was used to reinforce the track slabs of the railway in Munich, Germany. Advantage compared to steel reinforcement: The glass fiber composite material Schöck Combar® is electrically non-conductive. The eddy currents caused by the induction effect and the resulting high loss of energy as well as the heating of the base plate are avoided in this way.

The ground has been broken: 42 metres deep, up to 1.5 metres thick and about 4 metres wide. Reinforcement cages made from steel and Schöck’s Combar® glass fibre reinforcement are laid into the slots, then concrete is poured. The diaphragm walls formed in this way protect a 110 x 25 metre shaft. This is where the tunnel boring machine is launched, which is now cutting a 33 kilometre long duct deep beneath the hustle and bustle of the Île-de-France for the new “Ligne 15 South” for the Grand Paris Express.

Combar®, Schöck's glass fibre reinforcement, supplied further proof of its strength and material capabilities. A barrier wall reinforced with Combar® sustained the impact of a 36-ton truck travelling at 80 km/h with very little damage. The superior tensile strength of glass fibre reinforcement is just one of the numerous advantages it offers over steel rebar.
